Why fence quotes differ for the same length
The visible fence is only part of the work. A proposal may also include old-fence removal, post extraction, gates, access preparation and cleanup. A price that omits those items can look attractive until the scope is aligned.
Ask how the provider will handle slopes, obstructions or difficult digging found during the work. Distinguish a fixed inclusion from an allowance that may change. Compare replacement scope separately from a new fence on a clear route.
Compare the whole fence quote
Use this checklist when two totals look far apart. A blank line is a question to resolve, not automatically an extra charge.

Yes. Start with the purpose of the fence and a rough description of the yard. You can say that the length or material is undecided. A provider can establish the measurements and final scope before offering a property-specific price.
