Where an open aluminum fence fits
Aluminum pickets form a series of vertical openings; chain-link forms a woven mesh enclosure. Compare their appearance and actual openings if you want a visible yard boundary.
An open picket layout can mark a boundary while leaving the yard visible. It is not a solid privacy screen. If the main aim is to hide a patio or neighboring view, compare wood privacy or vinyl fencing.
Look at the proposed top style, finish and gate shape together. Ask for the named system and a layout drawing so the quote describes more than a general material choice.
Aluminum picket spacing and ground clearance
If pets or other enclosure needs matter, ask for the actual picket spacing and finished space below the panels. Check corners, gates and changes in level as well as the straight runs.
Describe the intended use to the installer. Do not assume that a decorative fence will contain every animal or satisfy a separate safety requirement. This guide cannot assess a specific product against your property’s needs.
Aluminum fence installation on slopes
Ask how the panels will follow or step across each slope and where larger bottom gaps may appear. A product that adjusts in one situation may need a different detail elsewhere.

Compare clear gate openings, swing direction, latch position and the support proposed for each gate. Check the route used by bins and lawn equipment, not only the view from the house.

What should an aluminum fence quote specify?
Request the named product, panel layout, finish, posts, transitions and gate hardware. Note any old fence or obstructions that must be removed. Ask the provider to explain exclusions and any allowance that could change the total.
